Production-line tracking for an RMG factory floor

A shop-floor display and tally system that made hourly output visible to the line, not just to management.

Management had production numbers. The lines producing those numbers did not - they found out how they had done at the end of the day, when it was too late to act on it.

What we did

We spent a week on the floor before writing anything. The finding that shaped the whole system: operators already knew when a line was falling behind, they just had no shared reference to point at.

So the output is a display, not a dashboard. Hourly target against hourly actual, readable from across the floor, updating live. The admin surface came second and is deliberately dull.

Outcome

Supervisors started intervening mid-shift instead of post-mortem.
The design research is the part the client now asks for first.
